It’s been a few months since the launch of Nintendo’s Wii UÂ and as of late, it’s certainly struggled to be successful and has had some bad publicity to boot. One could argue for the specific reasons the Wii U hasn’t been a huge hit, but a common opinion is the lack of truly huge exclusives. Other than Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros. U at launch, Nintendo’s lineup of new titles for the console has been virtually nonexistent. Traditional heavy hitters such as Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. have been completely missing in action, but that’s about to change. A recent tweet from the official Nintendo of America Twitter account had this tasty tidbit to drop:
#IwataSays We will discuss new Smash Bros., 3D Mario game, Mario Kart and other Wii U titles in our #NintendoDirectNA before the start of E3
— Nintendo of America (@NintendoAmerica) May 17, 2013
Announcements don’t get more confirmed than this. Not only does Nintendo have some much-needed major titles in the works for their new console, but they are very close to showing them off, especially since E3 is less than a month away. The Wii U needs a major shot in the arm to have a notable place in the upcoming generation of consoles, and if Nintendo plays their cards right, these titles could be the first step to repairing the system’s reputations. As they say, though, only time will tell.
Until then, feel free to post your thoughts on this announcement in the comments section below. We will be sure to deliver news from this next Nintendo Direct soon after it is released.
