For those of you who have been awaiting Sarah Jessica Parker’s return to the spotlight, rejoice! The veteran actress is set to step into one of the lead roles in an upcoming crime drama recently picked up by Sidney Kimmel Entertainment and Anonymous Content, who produced HBO’s hugely successful series, True Detective.

Reported by Deadline, Sidney Kimmel Entertainment acquired the rights to adapt the novel, Busted: A Tale of Corruption and Betrayal in the City of Brotherly Love, into their first television venture alongside of Anonymous Content producers. David Frankel, known for his work with The Devil Wears Prada and Marley and Me, will be serving as the pilot director and executive producer.

The book tells the true story of two investigative reporters and their uncovering of one of the largest law enforcement scandals within the police department of Philadelphia. The journalists, Barbara Laker and Wendy Ruderman, stuck together to discover the shocking truth and even won a Pulitzer Prize for their journalism surrounding the corruption.

Sarah Jessica Parker will be taking on either the role of Laker or Ruderman in her anticipated return to the small screen. This will be her first return to a leading role on television since her portrayal of Carrie Bradshaw in the hit show Sex and the City, which left the air back in 2004. The crime drama will be definitely quite a departure from her usual roles, but it could potentially put her back into the limelight and should expose her to a whole new audience as well.
