Creator Mike Bithell has confirmed that his minimalist and peculiar platformer, Thomas Was Alone, will arrive on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U in November. And while we don’t have an exact release date at this stage, it’s understood that all three versions will launch within the same week.

Priced at $9.99 (£6.99), the title will be published through Curve Digital, who helped bring the award-winning 2D game to PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita late last year. As a matter of fact, those who already own Thomas Was Alone on either of these two platforms will be able to pick of the PS4 version free of charge, given that the platformer is cross-buy.

Having launched across PC and Linux in 2012, Thomas Was Alone has spread across a variety of platforms over the last couple of years, including iOS and Android devices — which was published by Bossa Studios.

If you are yet to dip your toe into Bithell’s rather deceiving world, Thomas Was Alone is an excellent and novel take on video game storytelling. Your goal is to simply control one or more polygon shapes and steer them through the ever-changing environment. With Danny Wallace lending his chords for the dulcet voiceover — who helped win the game a BAFTA award — each pixelated block gradually develops into a likeable personality. No, really.

With Thomas Was Alone now set for its release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Wii U, Bithell is prepping his sophomore project Volume, an upcoming stealth-based game that takes inspiration from Metal Gear Solid. We’ll be sure to have more on the project as it develops.

In the meantime, you can let us know your thoughts about the recently-released current-gen port in the comments.
