As a wise man once said, it’s dangerous to go alone. And it looks to be that Bungie has adopted that mantra for Destiny‘s upcoming patch, which will add matchmaking into the shooter’s Weekly Heroic Strike missions, meaning you’ll no longer be able to partake in the activity on your lonesome.

The studio outlined the new-fangled feature via a recent blog post, though some of the game’s most frequent players will be wondering whether the same matchmaking system will be put in place for Destiny‘s challenging raid missions. Alas, here’s what Bungie had to say regarding the forthcoming patch:

“We wanted the Weekly Heroics to be a challenge that pushed you and your buddies, but what we observed was that these strikes don’t demand the same cooperation of a cohesive pre-made group,” Destiny design lead M.E. Chung explained in a new blog post.

“The overwhelming community response was such that many players didn’t have the numbers on their friends list to experience the activity on a weekly basis.”

Guardians can expect the aforementioned addition to launch in tandem with patch 1.1.1, which will also herald the long-awaited fix for the shooter’s bizarre and frustrating heavy ammo glitch, not to mention re-balancing and tweaking several weapons.

Bungie is currently prepping the release of Destiny‘s sophomore expansion House of Wolves, which is expected to make an appearance in the spring. As part of the studio’s ten-year plan for the shared-world shooter, September will see the release of a much more meaty DLC, and early reports have suggested that this add-on will come in the form of Comet: Plague of Darkness.
