Universal has made a two-year deal with comic book writers Matt Fraction and Kelly Sue DeConnick to adapt comic several differet properties for the small screen, and the duo have already set their sights on their first endeavor. According to Deadline, they’ll adapt Fraction and artist Chip Zdarsky’s acclaimed Image Comics series, Sex Criminals.

The site reports that husband and wife team Fraction and DeConnick plan to use their Milkfed Criminal Masterminds production company as a way to adapt other comic creators’ properties. They have yet to announce what other comics may get the TV treatment, but Sex Criminals is an excellent and exciting start.

Named best comic of the year by Time Magazine in 2013, Sex Criminals was nominated for two Eisner Awards in 2014 for Best Continuing Series and Best New Series, winning the latter. Described as “a sex comedy for comics,” Sex Criminals features a “normal girl” named Suzie who stops time when she has sex. When she meets a man named John who possesses the same ability, they do what any time-stopping couple would do and begin to rob banks.

How Universal plans to adapt (and successfully market) the risqué property remains a mystery, but this is definitely exciting news for Sex Criminals fans (like myself), and I’m very curious to see how Fraction and DeConnick pull it off.
