Barry Allen may tout himself as the Fastest Man Alive in each opening monologue of The Flash, but others may soon challenge that claim. As you may or may now know, there are a handful of other spandex-clad speedsters in the DC Comics pantheon and some of them are about to pay Central City a visit.
We already know that one speedy cast member will return for season 2, and now we know that he won’t be alone. According to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, more speedsters are on the way:
“We are going to introduce a few more speedsters next year and a bunch more villains. How they and those villains come about is part of the surprise for season two. We’re really excited.”
The cat may be about of the bag when it comes to that particular surprise, as star Grant Gustin has already noted that we’ll be seeing the Multiverse come to fruition when The Flash returns this fall. Some speedsters could arrive from other universes, while time travel may factor in as well, leading to the possibility that Barry could run into his future self (again).
[zerg]In the season finale, we saw the helmet of one Jay Garrick, the original Golden Age Flash (who now resides in the parallel universe of Earth 2), come flying out of the singularity that Barry and Eobard had created, so it’s safe to say that he’ll likely show up at some point. Other notable characters that could appear are Kid Flash/Wally West (who’s already been teased by the show’s producers), Cobalt Blue (Barry’s long lost twin brother), The Tornado Twins (the future children of Barry and Iris West), Impulse/Bart Allen (Barry’s future grandson), and those that aren’t part of Barry’s convoluted family tree like Max Mercury, Liberty Belle/Jesse Chambers and Johnny Quick.
The Flash will return to The CW this fall. We’ll keep you posted when we hear more on what the showrunners have planned, but for now, tell us, who would you like to see in season 2?
