Earlier this year, The CW announced its plans to expand its DC Comics television universe – which already consists of Arrow and The Flash and will soon include Legends of Tomorrow – even further with an animated Vixen series. Information on the show has been scarce since then, but at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, The CW revealed Vixen‘s first trailer, which you can watch above.

Vixen stars The 4400 and CSI actress Megalyn Echikunwoke as Mari McCabe, a young woman who inherits a mysterious totem from her parents, which bestows upon her the magical ability to mimic the powers of any member of the animal kingdom. As revealed in the new sizzle reel, her newfound powers catch the attention of Barry Allen, Oliver Queen, Felicity Smoak and S.T.A.R. Labs’ resident geek, Cisco Ramon (who, of course, gives the heroine her nickname).

Vixen – which consists of six five-minute episodes – will debut on CW seed later this fall. Judging by the trailer, it should be a fun addition to this universe. Warner Brothers has had great success with its animated DC adaptations in the past, and this looks like it could be another surefire hit. If it is, we may get to see Echikunwoke suit up alongside Stephen Amell and Grant Gustin in live action, and see more animated projects like this one down the line.
