Rachel McAdams has booked her place amongst the stars; specifically, the True Detective actress has put the rumors and speculation to bed by confirming that she will indeed star in Marvel’s upcoming Doctor Strange.
While her role in Scott Derrickson’s feature was all but set in stone at this point, McAdams took time to reaffirm her part in the film to The Wrap. At the time of going to press, Marvel didn’t offer anything official, though her casting will have her star opposite Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme (aka Stephen Strange), Tilda Swinton’s The Ancient One and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo.
Remaining on the topic of yet-to-be-confirmed casting, and quite recently we brought you the news that Hannibal and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Mads Mikkelsen was in contention to assume the role of the film’s lead villain. Details are still thin on the ground as regards to the actual part Mikkelsen is orbiting, though the one role bubbling to the top of the rumor pile is that of Dormammu, an ancient demon that acts as one of Doctor Strange‘s oldest and greatest foes.
With production due to get underway this November, it’s nigh on time that we learned much more about Derrickson’s vision for Sorcerer Supreme in the coming weeks. Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige has promised that the Phase Three feature will continue to push the boundaries of the MCU itself – far into that Quantum Realm that was originally teased during Ant-Man earlier this year.
Doctor Strange is primed to open on November 4, 2016, with production set to kick off this November coming. We’ll keep you posted on Rachel McAdams’ involvement in Derrickson’s feature as this story develops.
