Xbox Director of Programming and spokesperson Major Nelson (AKA Larry Hryb) has formally announced the software making its way onto the company’s Games With Gold service for the month of December.

As a send off to 2015, the Redmond-based giant will be adding an “extra gift for the holidays” in the form of an additional title for Xbox 360, bringing the total number of games available throughout December to five. Headlining the selection on Microsoft’s Xbox One is NeocoreGames’ The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing that will become available first on December 1. Originally priced at $14.99, the adventure title will be available to download for Xbox Live Gold members for the entirety of the month.

In accordance with previous lineups, mid-December will herald the addition of Thief, Eidos Montreal’s franchise reboot that tiptoed onto consoles early last year. Members can pick up the studio’s back-to-basics effort from December 16 right up until January 15.

Switching gears to Xbox 360 and Zen Studios’ acclaimed CastleStorm toplines the last-gen selection. Available from December 1, the studio’s genre mash-up will remain free to download until December 15, where it will be replaced by both Sacred 3 and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. The latter two titles will round out the remainder of December’s Games With Gold offerings until New Year’s Eve.

Microsoft will close out 2015 with an expanded software roster for Games With Gold, but will you be downloading any of the aforementioned titles come next month?
