A substantial update is on the way for the Xbox One version of ARK: Survival Evolved, including split-screen multiplayer and PC content. A small sample of the new content updates headed towards the console version were posted earlier on the game’s Twitter account, with a provisional release date of early February.

In addition to the long-awaited arrival of a split-screen multiplayer mode that supports both online and local (wow, you don’t see that very often these days), Studio Wilcard is also aiming to improve the sometimes-struggling frame rate of the Xbox One version. You can see all of the currently confirmed changes below.

  • All PC Content up thru PC version 233 (Beer Dung Beetle, Dimetrodon, Gallimimus, Snack Prod, Riot Armor, Greenhouse Tileset, etc etc
  • SPLITSCREEN MULTIPLAVER for both Online and Local Play!!
  • Rendering Framerate. Improvements
  • Non-Dedicated multiplayer tether range increased +33%. Maximum number of players in non-dedicated sessions increased to 8!
  • All of the PC’s Server options are now exposed to Hosting/Local sessions (even options not were previously hidden in INIs), and all options have direct-input textboxes for using any arbitrary value.
  • Fixed cursor erroneously resetting to “Favourites” button after attempting to join a server
  • Fixed a memory leak that would eventually crash the client over time
  • Fixed multi-coloured Dimorphodon GO

ARK: Survival Evolved is an action-adventure survival game that tasks you with surviving in an extremely inhospitable – but beautiful – environment full of dinosaurs, prehistoric animals and many other dangers. Everything from a simple spear to a modern firearm can be found, crafted and salvaged as a means to survive, but do you have what it takes?

The game is currently in early access, and is due for a full release this June for all major platforms.
