Rachael Taylor Teases Trish Walker’s Evolution Going Into Jessica Jones Season 2

If the inaugural season of Marvel's Jessica Jones was designed very much as an origins tale for Krysten Ritter's titular private eye, could next year's season 2 see Patsy Walker fulfilling her comic book arc and becoming Hellcat?

If the inaugural season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones was designed very much as an origins tale for Krysten Ritter’s titular private eye, could next year’s season 2 see Patsy Walker fulfilling her comic book arc and becoming Hellcat?

It’s a proposition that actress Rachael Taylor has contemplated in the past, revealing that the dual role is something she’d “love to get [her] teeth stuck into whatever happens to the character.” Food for thought, then, though in a recent interview with Comic Book Resources, Taylor touched base on how her character fits into the grand scheme of things.

Firstly, Taylor reflected on the core relationship between Trish and Jessica in the opening season, and why the former is perhaps a little frustrated that Ritter’s superhero doesn’t call upon her powers more often.

I think Trish would really like to see Jessica use her gifts, her superhero powers, to a greater extent than what she probably does. I think Trish is very much an alpha personality type. I think she’s a very ambitious woman. And I think probably, if she had the same superhero powers that Jessica had, she thinks that she would probably do a lot more with them.

But will Patsy Walker become a costumed hero in Jessica Jones season 2? It’s the question that has fans pining for the return of Alias Investigations, and here’s what Taylor had to share on the matter.

“She declares it in the show,” Taylor points out. “Jessica says, ‘What else could you possibly want, Trish?’ And Trish says, ‘Well, to save the world, of course.’ I do think there’s a part of her that would love to make it right in the way that she thinks Jessica could make it right if she was just to overcome her dysfunctions and put down the bottle. I think Trish is very much an alpha personality type. I think she’s a very ambitious woman. And I think probably, if she had the same superhero powers that Jessica had, she thinks that she would probably do a lot more with them…”

Jessica Jones isn’t likely to return for a sophomore season until early 2017, given the next order on Marvel and Netflix’s calling card is Daredevil season 2 on March 18.
