Something wicked this way comes – Entertainment One has premiered the latest trailer for Juan Antonio Bayona’s fantasy drama, A Monster Calls.
Narrated by the unmistakably sonorous tones of one Liam Neeson, the wondrous sizzle reel is a timely reminder of the craftsmanship and impressive visual effects featured in Bayona’s adaptation, as it inches closer and closer to a theatrical release.
Based on Patrick Ness’ novel of the same name, A Monster Calls places relative newcomer Lewis MacDougall into the role of Conor, an unassuming 12-year-old boy who seeks shelter from the trials and tribulations of everyday life – a poor mother, bullying and the like.
With a dash of Pan’s Labyrinth, it’s a journey that involves Conor escaping into “a fantastical world of monsters and fairytales” where Liam Neeson’s ancient deity stands as his watchful protector. Felicity Jones, Toby Kebbell, and Sigourney Weaver round out the impressive casting docket.
Steven Spielberg will be lifting the lid on his own gigantic yarn with this summer’s The BFG but beyond that, A Monster Calls stomps into theaters on October 14. For now, you can get up to speed on the adventure that awaits with the film’s official synopsis.
