Just last night, I was reflecting on how Arrow spawned such a rich universe – now a multiverse – from its humble beginnings as an un-related follow-up to Smallville. With timelines being re-written and characters appearing in live action that we previously never thought possible (Wild Dog, anyone?), we truly are living in a golden age of fandom.
As can be expected, synopses released by the network allow us to gaze into the not too distant future of our favorite superhero shows. Please note that The Flash wasn’t included due to the fact that November 8 is Election Day in the United States, therefore the Scarlet Speedster won’t have a new episode to offer that week.
Let’s start with the November 7 episode of Supergirl, the interestingly titled “Crossfire.” From what we can gather, it almost sounds like Kara will be taking on Intergang. A “ruthless new gang who has been armed with dangerous new alien technology” will certainly cause them to spring to mind for any reader of Superman comics and one has to wonder if any references to Apokolips will be dropped. Sure, Darkseid is currently tied up in the movies, but with the Man of Steel now appearing on screens both big and small, you never know.
SUPERGIRL TAKES ON A RUTHLESS NEW GANG — Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) must beat a ruthless new gang who has been armed with dangerous new alien technology. When Cadmus sends a video to the DEO, the team realizes Cadmus is the one staffing the criminals for a secret mission. Meanwhile, Kara (Melissa Benoist) gets Mon-El (Chris Wood) a job as an intern at CatCo, James makes an important decision and Lena (Katie McGrath) invites Kara to attend one her fundraisers. Moving forward to November 9, Arrow looks to make its mark with “So It Begins.” Those who have been waiting for more attention to be paid to Prometheus will want to take note as it looks like he may take center stage in this one. There’s a decent chance he’s THE big bad of season 5, so I’d have to file this episode under “can’t miss.”
SINS OF THE FATHER — When Prometheus ups his killing spree, Oliver (Stephen Amell) searches for connections between the victims. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Curtis (Echo Kellum) discover the victims have a mysterious link to Oliver’s past and this new secret could upend his new team. Meanwhile, Thea (Willa Holland) has a heart-to-heart with Lance (Paul Blackthorne), and Felicity considers telling Malone (guest star Tyler Ritter) the truth about her work. John Behring directed the episode written by Wendy Mericle & Brian Ford Sullivan (#506). Original airdate 11/9/2016.
On November 10, expect DC’s Legends of Tomorrow to become “Compromised” as they head to the 1980’s. It should be most intriguing to see what Damien Darhk and the rest of the Legion of Doom are up to. Having first tried to influence the Nazis during World War II and now moving onto whispering in the ear of Ronald Reagan, theories must be running rampant as to what their confounding plan must be. Any way you look at it, LoT makes for exciting television.
REVELATIONS — When the Legends trace a timequake to President Reagan’s White House, they are shocked to discover their old enemy Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough) is now a Senior Adviser to Reagan. As the team works to uncover what Darhk has up his devious sleeve, Sara (Caity Lotz) struggles with the choice of getting revenge or helping with the team’s larger mission. Thinking that the JSA members could be of help, Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) and Nate (Nick Zano) break into the JSA and are surprised at what they find. Meanwhile, Stein (Victor Garber) tries to prevent his younger self from creating an even bigger time Abberation. Franz Drameh, Dominic Purcell and Brandon Routh also star. David Geddes directed the episode written by Keto Shimizu & Grainne Godfree (205). Original airdate 11/10/2016.
