With The CW having just released their midseason lineup, it is apparent now more than ever that geek culture is their target audience, with nearly every show in their prime time block being based on a comic book or possessing some kind of fantastical element. Most of your favorite superhero shows will remain unaffected, but fans of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will want to pay attention.
First, let’s start with series that won’t make the cut. If you love No Tomorrow or Frequency, I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news because those two have not received a full season order and will soon meet an early end. Their vacancies will be occupied by DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, which will fill out its recently extended run Tuesdays at 9 pm beginning on January 24, with The 100 taking the Wednesday night 9 pm slot on February 1. Let it also be known that iZombie will return for its third season on Tuesday, April 4 once Legends makes its exit.
Thursday, January 26 will see a bit of a shift occur as longstanding cult hit Supernatural moves to 8 pm, effectively serving as the lead-in for the highly anticipated Riverdale, which is said to have a more modern, subversive twist on the Archie Comics mythos.
Elsewhere on the network, The Vampire Diaries will air its series finale on Friday, March 10 before its spinoff, The Originals, takes its place a week later. Crazy Ex Girlfriend will vacate the 9 pm time slot following February 3 as Reign will take over the following week.
