Dane DeHaan Descends Into Madness In Latest A Cure For Wellness Trailer

Dane DeHaan descends into madness in the latest and downright creepy trailer for Gore Verbinski's psychological thriller, A Cure For Wellness.

Following a lengthy spell helming big budget Hollywood blockbusters – three Pirates of the Caribbean movies topped off with Disney bomb The Lone Ranger – director Gore Verbinski is circling back to small-scale filmmaking in 2017, and we couldn’t be more excited.

The director, who made a name for himself in the horror genre with the truly unnerving American remake of The Ring, is rustling up something wholly unique and downright bizarre for his next effort. It’s called A Cure for Wellness, a psychological thriller in which Dane DeHaan succumbs to madness while visiting a peculiar “wellness center” high up in the Swiss Alps. It’s a lavish facility, one that promises to purify and cleanse its patients through a mixture of old-school and inhumane experiments, each more nightmarish than the last.

Hatched by Verbinski and screenwriter Justin Haythe, judging by today’s all-new trailer, A Cure for Wellness is brimming with a potent, psychological terror – a melting pot of bleak, sterile environments and stomach-churning experiments. At almost three minutes in length, this new sizzle reel does cast light on a lot of key story elements, so if you’re wanting to experience Verbinski’s new pic with a relatively blank slate, avert thy eyes.

“There is a sickness inside us, rising like that bile that leaves a bitter taste at the back of our throats.” Thankfully, Gore Verbinski has just the tonic, and will administer A Cure for Wellness across theatres nationwide on February 17, 2017.

An ambitious young executive is sent to retrieve his company’s CEO from an idyllic but mysterious “wellness center” at a remote location in the Swiss Alps. He soon suspects that the spa’s miraculous treatments are not what they seem. When he begins to unravel its terrifying secrets, his sanity is tested, as he finds himself diagnosed with the same curious illness that keeps all the guests here longing for the cure. From Gore Verbinski, the visionary director of The Ring, comes the new psychological thriller, A Cure for Wellness.
