Filming On Ben Affleck’s The Batman Reportedly Pushed Back A Few Months

Citing a source close to the project, Batman on Film is reporting that filming on Ben Affleck's The Batman has been pushed back a few months.

There’s been another twist in the ongoing saga of Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie, if a report unearthed by Batman on Film is to be believed.

Citing a source close to the gestating project, BOF claims production is more likely to begin mid-summer, which flies in the face of comments made by both Joe Manganiello (Deathstroke) and Jeremy Irons (Alfred) that The Batman would start lensing this spring. This is by no means a sure thing – neither is the project itself, apparently – and Batman on Film tends to be a little hit-and-miss when it comes to scoops, but assuming it does hold true, it would inevitably have knock-on effect to the movie’s release.

Currently, it’s estimated that Affleck’s rendition of the Caped Crusader – one he plans to write, direct, produce and star in – has been angled for release in the summer of 2018, but news of a delay would surely push that tentative window back to the fall. Indeed, Warner’s 2018 slate is already trembling what with The Flash still in search of a director to replace Rick Famuyiwa, and though WB would no doubt like to see Affleck’s solo outing swoop in to fill the gap – wouldn’t we all? – the writer-director is cautious of pushing on until a compelling script is in place. An admirable stance, but it remains to be seen how long Warner will allow Ben Affleck to mull over the film before push comes to shove.

The Batman is still without an official release date for now, but we do know that Ben Affleck will next be seen donning the cape and cowl for Justice League on November 17.
