Gorilla Grodd Returns In This First Look At The Next Episode Of The Flash

Gorilla Grodd has always been one of the most enjoyable recurring villains in The Flash, and as the show’s budget has increased, so too has the amount of screen time that the CGI bad guy receives. When the series returns in a fortnight from now, the character will be taking centre stage in a two-part event that The CW’s billing as “Gorilla City.”

While it appears as if Grodd will indeed clash with the Fastest Man Alive (putting him and the team behind bars), the psychic gorilla actually wants his help to stop Earth-1 from being invaded by the intelligent community of his kind, which is based on Earth-2, the home of Harrison “Harry” Wells and his speedster daughter, Jesse Quick.

For more on what to expect from this instalment of The Flash – titled “Attack on Gorilla City” – here’s the official synopsis:

When Jesse Quick (guest star Violett Beane) informs the team that her father (Tom Cavanagh) has been abducted, Barry (Grant Gustin), Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker), Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Julian (Tom Felton) voyage to Earth-2 on a rescue mission to save Harry from Gorilla City. As they trek through the forest, Barry and the team are immediately captured and brought to Grodd (voiced by David Sobolov).

Grodd tells them he needs their help to stop Solovar (voiced by Keith David), the leader of Gorilla City, as Solovar wants to invade Earth-1. Meanwhile, back on Earth-1, Jesse and Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale) hit the streets to stop a metahuman that can control gravity, with H.R. and Joe (Jesse L. Martin) guiding them from S.T.A.R. Labs. Dermott Downs directed the episode with story by Andrew Kresiberg and teleplay by Aaron Helbing & David Kob.

With the overarching Savitar storyline clearly taking a back seat for a couple of weeks, it should be a lot of fun spending time on Earth-2 and getting better acquainted with Grodd. Many fans would like to see him become a season-long big bad, and if the fully CG “Speed God” mentioned above proves anything, it’s that this would actually be a real possibility in The Flash season 4.

Now wouldn’t that be something, eh?
