Writer-director Jeremy Saulnier is beginning to make serious headway on his Green Room follow-up, Hold the Dark.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the embryonic thriller has now cast Westworld‘s Jeffrey Wright, Alexander Skarsgard, Riley Keough (The Girlfriend Experience), James Badge Dale and James Bloor. Filming is due to commence sometime next month, when William Giraldi’s engrossing page-turner will serve as creative inspiration. Netflix has pledged its support to the project, which is an exciting vote of confidence from the online giant following Saulnier’s work across Cannes favorite Blue Rein and the aforementioned Green Room, which delivered neo-Nazi thrills and spills two years ago.

As for Hold the Dark, the plot synopsis relayed by THR confirms that Giraldi’s thriller takes place in “a remote Alaskan wilderness in which wolves have taken and killed children. A wolf-expert biologist is called in to investigate, but finds himself in between a secret-harboring mother, who disappears, and her husband, who goes on a maniacal spree when he returns from Iraq and learns of his son’s death. White, cold snow runs red with hot blood.”

After dabbling with sentient Hosts in Westworld, Wright is attached to the part of the wolf biologist. Badge Dale, meanwhile, is set to take point as the detective assigned to the case and finally, THR notes that Skarsgard and Keough will play the husband and mother, respectively.

Hold the Dark is yet another addition to Netflix’s stacked portfolio of content. In the movie realm alone, the online streamer has scooped up David Ayer’s fantasy drama Bright, The Discovery, War Machine and Death Note, the high-profile manga movie in the works from The Guest‘s Adam Wingard.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on Saulnier’s latest creative venture as the project begins to coalesce but for now, tell us, what are your initial impressions of both the cast and the story at hand?
