Earth Is Ours No More: Watch The Beautiful Launch Trailer For Horizon Zero Dawn

In anticipation of its NA bow on February 28th, Sony has unleashed the beautiful launch trailer for Horizon Zero Dawn, Guerrilla's bold new IP.

Widely considered to be the first marquee title of 2017, Horizon Zero Dawn is now only a few days out, and following the avalanche of overly positive reviews, there’s a crackle of excitement swirling around the launch of Guerrilla’s bold new IP.

Pitched as a post-post-apocalyptic open world RPG that combines gameplay elements from Far Cry, Assassin’s Creed and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Horizon takes place in a distant future where vast, dinosaur-esque machines rule the Earth. Exactly how those robotic monstrosities came to be is a mystery that will ultimately underpin the narrative of Guerrilla’s vast RPG, and if there’s one area of Horizon Zero Dawn that has gained near-universal acclaim among critics, it’s the story. In order to give early adopters a hint of what’s to come, today brings forth the official launch trailer for Zero Dawn, which introduces the adventure that awaits Aloy, the flame-haired protagonist at the heart of the story.

“In a world where Machines dominate the earth and mankind lives on in primitive tribal societies, one woman sets out to find her destiny among the remnants of the ancient past. As Aloy, you must brave the Machine-infested wilderness and unearth secrets that lie buried deep within the earth. Will you embrace your calling… or pass into oblivion unsung?”

The reviews are out in the wild and the day one patch is officially locked in – all that’s left now is for Horizon Zero Dawn to make its mighty debut on February 28th for those in North America. Guerrilla’s RPG will then make the jump across the pond in time for a European release on March 1st, and early estimates claim Horizon could reach upwards of eight million lifetime sales, four-to-six million of which will be in 2017 alone.

On February 28th, Horizon Zero Dawn will find beauty in the post-post-apocalypse. It’s being angled as a bona fide franchise-starter over at Sony, and though the platform-holder is yet to officially green light a sequel, it seems future entries in the series may shift the focus away from Aloy, the fearless protagonist loosely inspired by Ygritte from Game of Thrones.
