Final Red Band Trailer For Life Cranks The Horror Up To 11

Life finds a way in the final red band trailer for Sony and Daniel Espinosa's space-set thriller. Look for it to open on March 24th.

For eons, Mars has been a constant source of wonder and amazement for human beings, from the Romans christening our neighboring planet as the god of war to modern-day entrepreneurs like Elon Musk, who firmly believe that human colonization of the Red Planet is an achievable feat – and one he hopes we can accomplish within the next 50 to 100 years.

But on March 24th, writer-director Daniel Espinosa (Safe House, Child 44) will make the journey from science fact to science fiction for Life, a space-set thriller wherein Mars is not so much a high-priority destination as it is the home of monstrous alien organisms. They’ve lain dormant on the scorched surface for generations, but when the six-member crew of the International Space Station intercepts a probe carrying a sample from the Martian surface, all hell threatens to break loose on the ISS.

Headed up by Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson and Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, those crew members quickly begin to realize that the extra-terrestrial life is far more advanced and intelligent than they ever imagined, which isn’t exactly the kind of discovery you want to be making when housed up in the International Space Station. Also starring Olga Dihovichnaya, Ariyon Bakare and Hiroyuki Sanad, this final trailer leaves us feeling cautiously optimistic that Espinosa has engineered a tight-knit space thriller, and the CGI work doesn’t look too shabby, either. It may not be on the level of Gravity, visually speaking, but we’re excited to see how Daniel Espinosa’s spin on the haunted-house-in-space format pans out.

After closing out SXSW 2017 later this week, Life will open opposite Lionsgate’s Power Rangers movie on March 24th.
