Jeremy Renner Reportedly Out Of Mission: Impossible 6, But Will He Appear In Ant-Man And The Wasp?

Multi-movie contracts like those seen in the MCU and DCEU tend to be so comprehensive – so consuming – that their mere existence often results in actors and actresses passing up a handful other projects, or pushing them onto the back-burner, in order to fully immerse themselves in the cinematic universe at hand.

With this in mind, it’s small wonder why we often hear reports of stars playing hardball with studios over the red tape surrounding select superhero roles. But by and large, the biggest casualty of multi-movie contracts are those films outside the superhero space, who find their pool of acting talent begins to diminish just as ‘Superhero Movie X’ begins to ramp up production. Scheduling conflicts are a bitch, make no mistake about it, and it seems the latest victim is Mission: Impossible 6.

That’s according to a new report from Showbiz411 (via Screen Rant), claiming that Jeremy Renner has bowed out of Christopher McQuarrie’s sequel – a sequel that’s locked and loaded to begin filming on April 10th – due to his ongoing ties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The rumor namechecks two Marvel projects in particular: Avengers: Infinity War and 2018 sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Neither Marvel nor Peyton Reed have openly confirmed Hawkeye’s involvement in Ant-Man and the Wasp, so treat this rumor as just that for the time being. Assuming this report holds true, though, the idea of Hawkeye and Paul Rudd’s diminutive hero sharing the screen again, particularly after their fight sequences together in Civil War, is enough to leave Marvel fans frothing at the mouth.

As things stand, Ant-Man and the Wasp will make a beeline for theaters on July 6th, 2018 with Michael Peña in tow, despite reports to the contrary.
