But if Monday’s nostalgic promo left us feeling all warm and fuzzy inside after presenting a quick tour of three primary locations in the Double R Diner, Laura Palmer’s house, and the instantly recognizable sheriff’s department, today’s 50-second snippet is more concerned with the characters populating the titular, eerie town. That means you’ll be able to check in on such larger-than-life personas as Big Ed Hurley (Everett McGill), Carl Rodd (Harry Dean Stanton), Sarah Palmer (Grace Zabriskie), Deputy Andy Brennan (Harry Goaz), Deputy Tommy “Hawk” Hill (Michael Horse), and, of course, FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan), who remains one of the show’s primary characters.

Set in the present day, Showtime’s Twin Peaks revival takes place a full 25 years after the original investigation, but the town’s status as a magnet for murder and the ensuing sense of mystery remains intact. Something is amiss in David Lynch’s quaint northwestern town, and we can’t wait to watch that story unfold throughout the course of the imminent 18-part event series.

Almost two decades after David Lynch’s surreal procedural, Twin Peaks is now teetering on the verge of a comeback – and not a moment too soon. Showtime’s revival begins with a two-part premiere on Sunday, May 21st at 9 p.m. ET/PT on air, on demand and over the interwebs. Those who subscribe to the network’s premium service will gain access to the third and fourth chapters of Twin Peaks‘ third season immediately after broadcast – Showtime Anytime and Showtime On Demand are the two available outlets – before those particular episodes grace the airwaves on May 28th.
