Deadpool’s Brianna Hildebrand Lands Recurring Role On The Exorcist

Brianna Hildebrand, otherwise known as Negasonic Teenage Warhead from Deadpool, has landed a recurring role on The Exorcist's second season.

Deadline brings word that Deadpool co-star Brianna Hildebrand has climbed aboard The Exorcist at Fox, and will play one of the haunted female leads opposite Star Trek‘s John Cho.

Yes, after leaving fans on tenterhooks for the better part of six months, when the immediate future of Fox’s horror drama was clouded in mystery, The Exorcist‘s second season is fast beginning to take shape, particularly after planting the flag on a late September premiere date.

As previously reported, the Rance family have moved on to pastures anew, meaning that Geena Davis, Hannah Kasulka, Brianne Howey, and Alan Ruck won’t feature in season 2 whatsoever. A change in location is also on the cards, given that The Exorcist is set to uproot from Chicago in favor of the Pacific Northwest, where a brand new and spine-chilling case is about to unravel.

And Hildebrand will be thrust into the eye of the storm as Verity, one of Andrew Kim’s (Cho) foster children. Best known for her role as Negasonic Teenage Warhead – “Negasonic Teenage what the shit?! That’s the coolest name ever!” – in Tim Miller’s Deadpool, the casting of Brianna Hildebrand is certainly a major coup for the small-screen horror series, and it’s understood Fox plans to introduce her to those in attendance at San Diego Comic-Con next weekend.

Story-wise, Deadline also managed to conjure up a smattering of clues about where The Exorcist is headed next. Spoilers: it involves thrills and spills and a powerful force attempting to claw its way out from beyond the brink.

Father Tomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera) and a newly collarless Marcus Keane (Ben Daniels) out of Chicago and on the road, searching out evil. Across the Atlantic, Father Bennett (Kurt Egyiawan) attempts to weed out those within the Vatican who have turned against God. Ultimately, Tomas and Marcus are led to Andrew Kim (Cho), a former child psychologist who runs a group home for five at-risk foster children on a secluded private island off the coast of Seattle. When one of the children under Andrew’s care is targeted by a powerful force, the two priests head west, setting themselves on a collision course with hell.

Little is currently known about Fox’s release plans for The Exorcist‘s second season, but we’ll surely have more information for you once San Diego Comic-Con kicks off next weekend.
