Peter Capaldi has hinted at what his next job may be after vacating Doctor Who later this year. The Scottish actor has been busy starring as the titular time-travelling Time Lord for the past little while, but now he’s free to take on a new challenge and as it turns out, Capaldi might be about to team up with an old colleague.

During last month’s San Diego Comic-Con, TVGuide asked him if he would like to guest star on Veep, the political sitcom created by Armando Ianucci, who previously wrote The Thick of It. For those who don’t know, before Doctor Who, Capaldi was most famous for his critically-acclaimed turn as foul-mouthed spin doctor Malcolm Tucker on that show.

Though he wouldn’t give a definite answer to the outlet, he did say this:

“I don’t know … Maybe that would be fun. I’d certainly be able to swear again! I always felt it would be inappropriate to swear, so I haven’t been able to swear for four years.”

Capaldi then dropped an intriguing hint about what he has in the pipeline. While he might not be appearing on Veep, the star could be working with the show’s creator on a different project.

“I think I’m going to be working with Armando next year,” said the actor.

This isn’t the first time that Capaldi has talked about how excited he is to curse once he’s done with Doctor Who. He previously revealed that he hasn’t uttered a single swear ever since he was cast as the Doctor back in 2013 – but is planning to let them rip once his last episode airs.

Capaldi’s final Doctor Who outing, titled “Twice Upon A Time,” will land on Christmas Day and will see him hand over the keys to the TARDIS to his successor, Jodie Whittaker. For a look at what’s in store, check out the trailer below.
