Following the shock exit of both halves of Firestorm – Victor Garber and Franz Drameh – in recent episodes of Legends of Tomorrow, the crew of the Waverider are in desperate need of a new teammate to fill the gap. It was previously revealed that an already established Arrowverse character would be taking Firestorm’s place, and now we might just know who it is.

Caity Lotz – who plays Waverider captain Sara Lance AKA White Canary – took to Instagram to post a shot of herself alongside Danielle Panabaker, The Flash‘s Caitlin Snow. Fans will note that the photo is on the Waverider, suggesting that Caitlin – in her icy Killer Frost alter ego – is going to be taking a trip through time when Legends resumes.

The inference we can make here, then, is that Killer Frost is the aforementioned Arrowverse character who’s joining Legends as a regular. If that’s the case, then this would cause a major shake-up over on The Flash, as Caitlin has been a lead character on that show from the beginning. It’s worth remembering, though, that the series has been writing out major players left, right and centre of late – Wally West, Julian Albert, Jesse Quick, etc.

In many ways, Caitlin is perfect Legends material. Like the rest of the team were when they started out, she’s a bit of a screw-up who hasn’t really grasped the extent of her powers or what she’s going to do with them yet. Likewise, it makes a lot of sense to replace a fire-based character with an ice-based one.

Before we get too carried away, though, there is the possibility that we’re reading too much into this snap. It could very easily just be a leftover photo that Lotz took during filming on the recent “Crisis on Earth-X” crossover event which the actress has only now decided to share with her fans. Or maybe she really is teasing Killer Frost’s new permanent place on the Waverider.

One way or another, we’ll find out for sure when Legends of Tomorrow returns for its midseason premiere on February 12th, 2018.
