Legends Of Tomorrow Reportedly Loses Yet Another Series Regular In Franz Drameh

Well, if you ever wanted to book a trip on the Waverider, now might be the time to do so. In the past few months, their bunks have been generously freeing up, with Arthur Darvill's Rip Hunter being demoted from series regular to a recurring special guest star. And if that weren't enough, two other members of Legends of Tomorrow's principal cast have exited the series entirely in as many weeks.

As you may recall, Martin Stein met his end in last week’s phenomenal Arrowverse crossover event, Crisis on Earth-X, although we should’ve seen that coming because lead actor Victor Garber and the powers-that-be were planning his departure for some time. And even though it caused many to shed a tear, we all expected that the other half of Firestorm, Jefferson Jackson, would stick around in some capacity, perhaps even as a different superhero.

Oddly enough, it appears as though the towel has been thrown in when it comes to Jax because ComicBook.com reports that Franz Drameh is out as well. Granted, they left his farewell open-ended, thus allowing a possible return, but we can’t help thinking the producers ran into a creative wall for this character. Regardless, it’s a shame, he’s been an Arrowverse fixture ever since being introduced back in season 2 of The Flash.

Quite frankly, we imagine this could also be in an effort to free up the show’s budget. Without a doubt, Firestorm had to be the most expensive character on the series, with Jax and Stein not using their powers nearly as often as they should have. In fact, I recall one episode from season 2 in which Firestorm’s CGI was so bad that it looked like he was plucked from a Playstation 1 game.

Still, there are ways the voids we’ve mentioned can be filled. In addition to Zari taking on a more proactive role, we also have Wentworth Miller sticking around as Earth-X’s Citizen Cold, albeit for a few episodes. Plus, there’s the much hyped John Constantine, but he’ll be around for only a couple episodes himself. Now that we’ve said all that, it really does sound like the team could use a few extra hands on deck in the coming battle against Mallus.

Legends of Tomorrow returns with new episodes on Monday, February 12 on The CW.
