The image below shows us how superhero duo Hawk and Dove will appear on screen. Under that red and white helmet is Alan Ritchson (Smallville‘s Aquaman), who’s playing Hank Hall, and beside him and hidden behind those oversized goggles is Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights) as Dawn Granger, Hank’s crime-fighting (and romantic) partner.

Similar to Thwaites’ Robin outfit, Hawk and Dove look fairly close to their comic book counterparts, only with the colour schemes toned down and the skin-tight unitards swapped for more protective armour. You can see how the characters look on the page for comparison purposes in the gallery below.

The pair’s costumes were designed by Laura Jean Shannon, who also recently worked on The CW’s Black Lightning, debuting in January. Superhero fans also have her to thank for her amazing designs in 2008’s Iron Man, which kickstarted the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Back when Ritchson and Kelly were first announced to be involved with the series, Hawk and Dove were described as being “the perfect example of opposites attract, Hawk is an aggressive, offensive bruiser, while Dove is strategic, defensive and lithe.” DC fans might know that Hank’s brother Don was the original Dove, before Dawn replaced him after his death. We don’t yet know if that character will play a part in the show, but hopefully more will be revealed soon.

Now that we’ve seen how Robin, Hawk and Dove will appear in Titans, we should expect our first looks at the other three members of the team to arrive soon. By the way, those would be Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven, and Ryan Potter as Beast Boy. Plus, rumour has it that Bruce Wayne could appear via flashback scenes, too.

Titans is set to debut at some point in 2018 on DC’s as-yet-unrevealed upcoming streaming service.
