Pegged to premiere in April of 2019, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are hard at work wrapping up their Song of Ice and Fire – not so much that they can’t sign up for a new Star Wars trilogy, but you get the drift – and we now have the latest set photos to prove it.

Captured on location in Dubrovnik, Croatia (h/t Digital Spy), these intriguing (and potentially spoiler-sensitive!) pics find Jon Snow meeting with Cersei Lannister, Lena Headey’s crooked, conniving Queen Mother who was last seen plotting a major betrayal in Game of Thrones season 7. Chances are Jon Snow (real name: Aegon Targaryen) is about to confront Cersei and make her see reason or, in the more unlikely scenario, forge a whole new alliance.

Chalk that up as conjecture for now, as HBO tends to keep any and all story details under lock and key – you know, barring those unfortunate leaks that threatened to spoil the surprise of season 7.

What we do know, however, is that Aegon and his long-lost aunt, Daenerys, have joined forces, and are currently headed to Winterfell in order to defend the Stark stronghold from invading forces. Things aren’t looking too good for the northerly fortress, though, after recent set photos showed a massive battle scene taking place in Winterfell’s courtyard.

Production on Game of Thrones season 8 is expected to wrap up before the year’s end, by which point Paint Hall Studios will begin making preparations for Lucasfilm’s planned Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff. At least, that’s the latest Star Wars rumor bouncing off the walls of the Internet, which suggests the Powers That Be plan to fire up production in 2019 – right around the time when Episode IX is due to hit theaters.
