Thanos Reigns Over New Avengers: Infinity War Standee

The Mad Titan reigns over this imposing new standee for Avengers: Infinity War, which is just over two months out from its theatrical debut.

Cast your mind back to 2017, when Marvel Studios was busy tending to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok, and you’ll likely remember the ways in which the Internet overlooked Black Panther in the name of Avengers: Infinity War, the event movie to end all event movies.

Indeed, if one was to place both films side by side, Infinity War would dwarf its MCU brethren in just about every respect – cast, scale, scope, budget…the whole nine yards – so it’s a credit to Ryan Coogler and his team that Black Panther has cemented its place in box office history.

On the heels of a record-smashing second weekend, the standalone pic is now at $700 million and counting, and we fully expect Black Panther to break $1 billion before its theatrical run comes to a close, by which point Marvel will be doubling down on Avengers: Infinity War.

And while online rumors indicated that a new trailer was due to hit the interwebs tomorrow, February 27th, Marvel Studios has since set the record straight. If nothing else, it’s another example of the company’s carefully measured campaign for Infinity War, and though it’s been remarkably effective thus far, one Reddit user (h/t ComicBook.com) has spotted a rather imposing Thanos standee out in the wild.

Check it out in the gallery down below, along with some other recent merchandise/promo art:

Dressed in battle gear and wielding a souped-up Infinity Gauntlet, Marvel’s Mad Titan is not to be trifled with – even if he’s not the only threat to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. We already know that Avengers: Infinity War will introduce viewers to the Black Order, but over the weekend new intel suggested that Joe and Anthony Russo’s mega-movie would draft another villain into the equation. But who could it be?

We’ll find out once Avengers: Infinity War leaps into theaters on May 4th, when the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be changed forevermore.
