The Walking Dead: Norman Reedus Allays Fears Of Another Rick/Daryl Bust-Up

Coming out of The Walking Dead's season 8 finale, Norman Reedus took to Twitter to allay fears the Daryl is on the verge of betraying Rick.

Season 8 of The Walking Dead reached its conclusion with a somewhat contentious twist – Rick Grimes, having suffered hell and heartbreak throughout the last 16 episodes, ultimately chose to spare Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan.

It opens up the playing field for a ninth season that is radically different to everything that’s come before – hell, some are even comparing Angela Kang’s maiden installment as showrunner to a totally new series – while Rick’s decision, one which allowed restraint to prevail over revenge, will likely have far-reaching implications for season 9 and beyond.

Case in point: Maggie Rhee, who was visibly distraught once she realized that Negan was allowed to walk. It’s a major sea change that may well see Laura Cohen’s series stalwart go on to become the show’s next big antagonist. But those beginning to question Daryl’s allegiances needn’t bother; via Twitter, Norman Reedus has allayed fears that Mr. Dixon is about to betray his “brother Rick.”

First spotted by ComicBook.com, the Tweet was posted online soon after Sunday’s epic finale, “Wrath,” which actually recorded some of the show’s lowest ratings since its opening season. That’s been a recurring trend for The Walking Dead season 8, and long-time fans of the zombie drama have complained about a notable dip in quality.

However that may be, one thing we can tell you with absolute certainty is that Daryl isn’t about to walk out on Rick – even if that means another round of fisticuffs in the not-so-distant future.

Now that The Walking Dead season 8 is behind us, AMC is fully focused on season 4 of Fear The Walking Dead, which has just welcomed Morgan Jones (Lennie James) into its midst as part of the network’s historic crossover event. But don’t worry, there’s still a chance that the character will circle back to TWD at some point in the future.
