The War Comes Home In Arrow Season 6’s Penultimate Episode

Well, it sure did take some time getting here, but tonight's episode of Arrow - appropriately titled "The Dragon" - finally gave us a healthy amount of insight into the man that is Ricardo Diaz. When you think about it, it makes sense that the producers held off for a bit because he largely lurked in the shadows during the beginning of the season, allowing Cayden James to serve as a red herring of sorts.

So, now that we’re well aware of his sordid childhood and why he’s the sick S.O.B. that he is today, we can only hope that actor Kirk Acevedo continues knocking it out of the park in this final stretch of episodes. In fact, it appears as though Diaz will achieve new levels of depravity in the penultimate outing.

Without further delay, here’s the official synopsis for May 10’s offering, “The Ties That Bind”:

DIAZ AIMS FOR TEAM ARROW AND THEIR FAMILIES — Diaz (guest star Kirk Acevedo) targets Team Arrow and their loved ones. Oliver (Stephen Amell) struggles with Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) putting herself in danger when she gets the chance to stop Diaz for good. Tara Miele directed the episode written by Ben Sokolowski & Oscar Balderrama (#622).  Original airdate 5/10/2018.

All we ask is that Felicity not do something as goofy as putting on the Atom suit as she did back in season 3. Do you remember that gem?

Anyway, considering how we know that the season finale will be a great game-changer, it’s probably safe to assume that the stage will be set here, though I’m not sure if one can expect major deaths until the concluding episode – but you never really know. I just can’t help but think that Oliver’s son, William, will find himself caught in the crosshairs for the umpteenth time.

Arrow airs on Thursday nights on The CW.
