Director Patty Jenkins shared the image via Twitter earlier this morning (h/t io9), confirming that Diana’s love interest will indeed return for the Cold War-set sequel – you know, despite being blown to smithereens during the throes of World War I.

Perhaps this is simply a vision of Steve dressed in ’80s attire? Or has Chris Pine’s fallen war hero been resurrected through mystical means? Who knows, but one thing we can tell you with absolute certainty is that filming on WW84 is now underway in anticipation of the sequel’s release in November of 2019. And yes, Steve Trevor is very much along for the ride, as he’s seen here looking particularly confused in the middle of a shopping mall. He’s a man out of time, for crying out loud!

The catchy title has also been confirmed by Patty Jenkins, who has dropped the ‘2’ in favor of Wonder Woman 1984, the year in which Diana’s next solo adventure takes place.

It’s one that will involve an intense clash with Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah, the fan-favorite villain who’s expected to claw her way onto the big screen late next year. But beyond that, Warner Bros. is playing its cards close to the vest, and this HD photo reveal of Wonder Woman‘s Chris Pine in full ’80s gear is likely the studio’s way to mitigate any untimely leaks, particularly after rumors of Pine’s involvement began circulating late last month.

Wonder Woman 1984 arrives November 1st, 2019 with Steve Trevor in tow.
