The other day, The Flash star Danielle Panabaker revealed that production had begun on the fifth season of The CW’s DC TV series. Now, it seems its sister show, Arrow, isn’t far behind, as the cast recently gathered together for the first table read of season 7.
The news was revealed via the @ARROWwriters Twitter account, which posted a photo of Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen), Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak), David Ramsey (John Diggle) and Echo Kellum (Curtis Holt), along with the caption: “Happy #Arrow table read day! A few familiar faces stopped by today…”
The timing of the Arrow crew going back to work bodes well for there being a sneak peak at the new run at this month’s Comic-Con. Warner Bros. Television is putting on a panel for the show and, going by previous years, that would mean we’ll get a sizzle reel based on the footage filmed for the season opener. After all, if production is starting any day now, that should mean that the premiere will be shot by the time Comic-Con weekend rolls around. Or at least, a good chunk of it will be.
The big thing we know going into Arrow season 7 is that it’ll see Oliver Queen locked up in jail, following the shocking revelation of the season 6 finale which saw him finally outed as the Green Arrow. Going by how quickly the Arrowverse shows have dealt with these season-ending cliffhangers in the past, there was a rumor circulating that the former Star City major would be a free man by episode 3. However, Amell’s since claimed that this isn’t the case and has labelled the rumor as “false.”
The official synopsis for season 7 also teases “a mysterious new enemy” that enters Ollie’s life and “begins to unravel his work as Green Arrow” while he’s incarcerated in Slabside Penitentiary. It sounds like the Emerald Archer will have his work cut out for him when Arrow returns on October 15th then, and we can’t wait to see what other surprises The CW has in store for us with the new run.
