Avengers 4 Fan Theory Teases An Incredibly Bittersweet Ending For Cap

One MCU fan has presented yet another Avengers 4 theory which hints at an incredibly bittersweet ending for Captain America.

Captain America is many things to many people, but for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he’s the First Avenger – the beating heart and moral compass of this incredibly successful franchise.

And though he was given short shrift during Infinity War, all signs point to Cap enjoying a major role (and potentially an intense arc?) during the course of Avengers 4.

This, coupled with those leaked set photos of Steve Rogers dressed in his Phase One attire, have fueled all sorts of debate online, as curious fans attempt to solve Avengers 4 and its use of time travel. Surely it’s the only way Earth’s Mightiest Heroes can defeat Thanos? Who knows, but over on Twitter, one MCU fan put forward a new theory about the 2019 sequel which hints at an incredibly bittersweet finale for the star-spangled patriot.

WHAT IF STEVE DIES IN AVENGERS 4 AND THE POST CREDIT SCENE IS HIM WALKING INTO AN OLD EMPTY DANCE HALL (the one in the aou vision) AND YOU HEAR PEGGY’S VOICE SAYING “youre late…”

Assuming Steve Rogers and Co. are able to manipulate spacetime and revisit key events from the past, it may well allow Captain America to journey back to 1941 and reunite with Peggy Carter.

It’s certainly not the first time that Cap’s love of Peggy has played out on the big screen, as Age of Ultron toyed with Steve Rogers’ one true desire within that dimly-lit dance hall. And we all know how much Joe and Anthony Russo like to include subtle callbacks to MCU past.

Of course, this is nothing more than an innocent theory for the time being, as Marvel Studios is still overseeing post-production on Avengers 4 ahead of its arrival next summer. That means everything is still under lockdown until the first teaser trailer debuts, with the current estimate being a late November reveal – soon after the Powers That Be peel back the curtain on Captain Marvel.
