New Gotham Photos Reveal First Look At Jeremiah In Season 5

While it's unfortunate that the producers of Gotham may never be able to say the name "Joker" on their series, I think we can all agree on how Cameron Monaghan has done a fine job of portraying something pretty damn close. In fact, he's done it in two distinctly separate ways: Once as the wildly insane showman that was Jerome Valeska, and more recently as a cold and calculated mass murderer in the form of twin brother Jeremiah.

Actually, it’s entirely possible for the true Clown Prince of Crime to put in an appearance before the Batman prequel series takes its final bow and thereby put a different spin on the “three Jokers” concept DC’s about to explore on the comic book side of things, but let’s not get too ahead of ourselves.

For now, we’ll simply focus on Jeremiah by sharing two kick-ass photos posted by Monaghan himself on Instagram showing the knave looking snazzy as ever. Hey, if there’s one thing we can say about the Joker, it’s that he’s always been a sharp dresser – except for when he’s being played by Jared Leto.

As you can see, traditional Joker colors have been jettisoned in favor of red and black, but the DNA of the iconic villain is most assuredly there. Not only that, but appears as though the green-black hair we saw in season 4 has been replaced by jet black coloring. Either way, I’m digging the new look.

Seeing Jeremiah smiling makes me think he may embrace his insanity in the coming year and be less of a Hannibal Lecter type, but we’ll just have to wait and see. Regardless, there’s no doubt in my mind that Monaghan will remain my favorite personality on a series that already boasts so many great talents.

Gotham returns for its fifth season sometime in early 2019 on Fox.
