Oliver Queen Will Channel His Inner Barry Allen In Elseworlds Crossover

By now, you'd think we've said all we could about the upcoming "Elseworlds" crossover, but it's arguable there's more intrigue and excitement going into this particular Arrowverse event than any other to have preceded it. And with just under two weeks to go until the adventure begins, we'll undoubtedly see more news flooding the web.

So, if you’ve been keeping up with all of the assorted info, then there’s a very good chance you’re having a difficult time deciding what’s the most appealing thing about the mashup. Of course, there’s Ruby Rose making her debut as the first ever live action iteration of Batwoman, but then again, you also have Tyler Hoechlin returning as Superman – and in a black costume, no less. Like I said, there’s a lot going for this one.

Today, though, we’ll focus on another key component in the tale, that being Barry Allen and Oliver Queen switching roles as the Flash and Green Arrow. From what we’ve learned to date, this’ll come via a good old fashioned body-swap, something that actor Stephen Amell wasn’t afraid to discuss in a recent interview with TV Guide:

“Grant and I had a discussion very early on… that if this was going to work, that we really had to go for it, right?. He has my learned abilities, and I have his superpowers, there are elements of each other’s personality that each of us have to embrace in order to be successful at the mission that’s in front of us. So every once in a while, I’m channeling my inner Barry Allen, and I’m looking at Grant after the take going [meekly] ‘Is it too much?’ But no, we had a blast.”

Though I’ve yet to see how this situation will play out, my guess is that both men will seem like a fish out of water when finding themselves transplanted into the other’s life. From the look of it, Amell won’t be doing a Grant Gustin impression, or vice versa. At least, I hope not, because that could either go very well (remember Tom Welling and John Glover trading places during Smallville‘s “Transference” episode) or very wrong (Victor Garber and Franz Drameh did something similar on Legends of Tomorrow).

Ultimately, we’ll find out when “Elseworlds” begins on Sunday, December 9 with The Flash, continues on Monday, December 10 with Arrow, and wraps up on Tuesday, December 11 with Supergirl.
