Titans’ Alan Ritchson Says A Hawk And Dove Spinoff Could Still Happen

I don't know about you, but I actually do enjoy being proven wrong by a movie or TV show when it turns out to be better than expected. Like many folks out there, I was genuinely concerned about Titans when early set photos showed the costuming to be less than stellar. But once it came time for me to screen the first three episodes, I became a believer.

To my delight, the show has flourished in the time since. And what’s especially exciting is that it’s also brought the likes of Jason Todd and Donna Troy into the live action realm, not to mention cleverly integrating Hawk and Dove into the overarching story.

Actually, if all goes well, those two crimefighters with an ornithological lean could headline a series of their own. For some time now, talk of a spinoff has been swirling, something that actor Alan Ritchson told ComicBook.com continues to this day:

“I don’t think it’s out of the question. The idea has definitely been discussed on numerous occasions, and Minka and I are huge fans of the idea because we want to get to know these characters even better and see more of their day-to-day life.”

To be honest, I’ve admired what Ritchson and Minka Kelly have brought to their respective characters of Hawk and Dove. In my opinion, the two episodes focused on them have been among the finest the series has had to offer thus far – not to mention the most gritty and mature. Suffice it to say, I’d watch a spinoff.

Unsurprisingly, that aforementioned authenticity is something Alan himself also digs:

“I think the beauty of Titans — and you get even more of this, I feel, with Hawk and Dove — is this voyeuristic kind of fly-on-the-wall perspective of a day in the life of a superhero. You get a glimpse behind the curtain. We get to go inside their dingy apartment and see how they pay the bills and grocery shop. There’s something really human about that kind of superhero show that I’m a huge fan of. I think it gives us the opportunity to tell a superhero story in a way that’s never been done before and that’s exciting to me. And I think there’s a lot of story to explore. A lot of history, and I’m hungry for that. I really hope that happens.”

If this sounds appealing to you, be sure to check out Titans, which airs on Fridays on DC Universe.
