Crisis On Infinite Earths Will Be The Most Complicated Crossover Yet

In a first for The CW's shared universe, the end of last fall's "Elseworlds" crossover revealed the title of the next big event. And it wasn't just any title, as it confirmed that the next multi-part extravaganza would be an adaptation of "Crisis on Infinite Earths", arguably the biggest DC comics event of all time.

Now, we have it from the horse’s mouth that “Crisis” will be the most ambitious Arrowverse event so far. The CW president Mark Pedowitz told reporters at the Television Critics Association that the crossover “will be the biggest, most complicated one that they’ve done.”

The announcement that a Crisis was coming promised that the event would arrive this fall, so presumably during the usual late November/early December slot of previous events that’ve united Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl. Legends of Tomorrow didn’t take part in “Elseworlds” but, considering how massive “Crisis” will be, hopefully we can look forward to seeing the Waverider crew join in on the fun this time around.

A multiversal crisis was heavily foreshadowed in “Elseworlds,” of course, which saw cosmic entity the Monitor testing the heroes of the various worlds of the multiverse in order to see if they’re strong enough to withstand the incoming turmoil. The protectors of Earth-1 and Earth-38 were some of the few who managed to impress Mar-Novu and survive his meddling with reality. And, even then, that might only’ve been because Oliver Queen made a bargain for his own life in exchange for his friends.

As the title promises, “Crisis On Infinite Earths” fans are hoping we’ll get to meet various other heroes we haven’t seen in the Arrowverse before – maybe John Stewart’s Green Lantern, as hinted at in “Elseworlds”? – as well as characters from other DC TV shows – Smallville’s Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum would be pretty epic guest stars. We don’t want to get ourselves hyped to the point of disappointment, but Pedowitz’s comments that it’ll be big and complicated are certainly encouraging to hear.
