The CW Boss Teases A Bright Future For Standalone Batwoman Show

The CW chief Mark Pedowitz appears confident that the standalone Batwoman project will be ordered to series alongside its Arrowverse peers.

It’s looking increasingly likely that Kate Kane, Gotham’s newfound protector, will enjoy a bright future on The CW.

At least, that’s according to the network’s top brass, Mark Pedowitz, who hinted that the standalone Batwoman series will soon be of equal importance to the other five DC shows – namely Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl and Black Lightning.

As reported by ComicBook.com, Pedowitz latest comments strongly indicate that Batwoman will be picked up to series, where it will eventually rub shoulders with the other CW shows that have helped bring the wonderful worlds of DC to the small screen. And, frankly, you don’t hire Game of Thrones director David Nutter to helm the Batwoman pilot unless you’re seriously committed to the adventures of Kate Kane.

If you’ve been keeping pace with Batwoman‘s development, you’ll know that Ruby Rose, star of John Wick: Chapter Two and Orange is the New Black, snagged the coveted role late last year, with Caroline Dries and Arrowverse architect Greg Berlant pulling the strings from behind the lens.

It’s not all sunshine and rainbows for Rose’s crimefighter, though, given Kane is forced to overcome her own demons before she takes charge as Gotham’s one true symbol of hope. She certainly looks the part, too, and we simply can’t wait to see Batwoman‘s costume in action when the standalone series spreads its wings later this year – by which point we should have more details relating to some of the show’s key characters, including Luke Fox/Batwing, Renee Montoya, Jacob Kane and Alice, the latter of whom may prove to be a major adversary for Kate Kane during her rise to full-blown vigilantism.
