The Flash’s Grant Gustin Responds To Arrow’s Cancellation

Earlier this week, it was announced that Arrow is set to end after its upcoming eighth season. While you could argue that it's about time that the Emerald Archer hung up his quiver for good, DC TV fans have still found themselves as emotional wrecks thanks to the news, as the show's been with us for so long. Not to mention being the reason that The CW's extensive, ever-growing shared superhero universe even exists in the first place.

Someone who’s definitely going to miss it is The Flash star Grant Gustin. The actor, who first appeared as Barry Allen on Arrow‘s second season, penned a lengthy tribute to the series – and its star Stephen Amell – on Instagram.

“It’s always been clear to me how much it means to Stephen to have the privilege of getting to go on this journey as Oliver Queen,” Gustin wrote. “And how much care he’s always puts towards it.”

To the whole Arrow crew, Gustin said: “Thank you to everyone who was a part of making Arrow for letting me come on this journey with you all. Congratulations on a badass show that will live on forever.”

The actor shared the message along with the TV Guide cover that marked the very first Flash/Arrow crossover and a BTS image of himself chatting with Amell. As he says, the one good thing about Arrow ending is that the pair might get more free time to hang out together.

Arrow‘s eighth season will be 10 episodes long and is expected to lead into the highly anticipated “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover this fall. Speaking of which, going by hints in last year’s “Elseworlds” event, it’s widely assumed that the Green Arrow’s going to sacrifice his life to save his super-friends, thereby bringing Oliver Queen’s story to a heartbreaking conclusion.

For now, though, Arrow is currently airing its seventh season on Mondays, while The Flash season 5 follows Tuesdays on The CW.
