Killer Frost

The Flash’s Danielle Panabaker Wants Killer Frost To Get A New Costume

When it comes to major costume alterations found in the Arrowverse, I think we as the viewers tend to focus more on the headliners than the supporting characters. Really, whenever Green Arrow or the Flash don a new suit, it's the talk of the town. I'd like to say the same about Supergirl, but she's been wearing the same threads since she's arrived on the scene - barring doppelgangers like Overgirl and Red Daughter, of course.

When it comes to major costume alterations found in the Arrowverse, I think we as the viewers tend to focus more on the headliners than the supporting characters. Really, whenever Green Arrow or the Flash don a new suit, it’s the talk of the town. I’d like to say the same about Supergirl, but she’s been wearing the same threads since she’s arrived on the scene – barring doppelgangers like Overgirl and Red Daughter, of course.

Still, heads do turn whenever, say, Spartan or Mr. Terrific get an upgrade. But when you think about it, characters like Arsenal, Vibe and the Atom tend to stick to their tried and true. I think that’s one thing that allows Killer Frost to stand out: her look never goes stale.

When we first met the frosty fatale, it was actually in the form of her Earth-2 counterpart. But later on in The Flash‘s third season, Earth-1’s Caitlin Snow finally made the jump we’d been waiting for when she dabbled in villainy. And since this was technically a different person, she needed different clothing, right?

Since then, she’s made a few more aesthetic changes, probably to help signify that Killer Frost now exists on the right side of the law. Regardless, actress Danielle Panabaker wants to wear yet another new costume at some point.

“I want a new suit,” said the actress. “The Season 4 suit was different than the Season 3 suit and I want a new suit, absolutely. Killer Frost is a little bit like Vibe in that she, and like most of the superheroes, that she has to go somewhere to put her suit on, Flash has to put his suit on. So, I’m excited to see what her suit looks like whenever she gets it.”

Well, there’s always season 6. And if the costuming department decides to oblige, then maybe the Scarlet Speedster himself can continue his visual evolution. I don’t know about you, but I’m not digging his current suit as much as the older ones.

For more on the immediate future of the show, here’s the official synopsis for “Snow Pack,” which, incidentally, is much ado about Caitlin and her family:

ICICLE RETURNS — When Icicle (guest star Kyle Secor) returns to enact the next phase of his devious plan, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) and her mother, Dr. Carla Tannhauser (guest star Susan Walters), must resolve their long-combative relationship to defeat the icy monster. After Barry (Grant Gustin) makes a big decision about their family without consulting her, Iris (Candice Patton) decides to take matters into her own hands.”

The Flash airs on Tuesday nights on The CW.
