Is Bruce Campbell Teasing Evil Dead’s Ash Williams For Mortal Kombat 11?

Mortal Kombat 11 developer NetherRealm Studios released a brand new trailer for its blood-soaked brawler over the weekend. Fans of the series have already been engaging in otherworldly combat since the game's launch back in April, of course, meaning the latest gore-laden footage to arrive is all about DLC. As promised prior to release, MK11 is to receive a considerable amount of post-launch support in the form of new characters, many of which will be guests from other franchises.

In regards to last week’s trailer, first gameplay for returning villain Shang Tsung was the primary focus, though it’s what came after that’s whipped fans into a frenzy of excitement. Both Sindel and Nightwolf will return alongside the aforementioned sorcerer, with three guest characters set to join them. The first of that latter trio was confirmed to be Todd McFarlane’s Spawn, though an air of mystery continues to hang over the remaining two.

Who are they, you ask? Nobody knows for sure, though the current favourites are Terminator, Joker and Ash Williams. Considering the inclusion of horror movie icons like Leatherface and the Xenomorph in past MK titles, all three would find themselves a perfect fit in-game, though it’s the latter’s potential inclusion that currently has tongues wagging.

Previous leaks have hinted at Bruce Campbell’s character from The Evil Dead making an appearance in the fighter as DLC, though last we heard, the actor had put that speculation to rest by stating the crossover wasn’t to be. Now, however, Campbell appears to be delighting in toying with his followers on social media, having Tweeted out the following after having watched NetherRealm’s recent reveal.

Is this all just a spectacular campaign of misdirection on Campbell and NetherRealm’s part, or is the former simply excited about checking out the new content headed to Mortal Kombat 11? For what it’s worth, our money’s on the former, but what do you think? Sound off in the comments section below!
