Bruce Campbell Shoots Down Mortal Kombat 11 Rumors With Toasty Meme

There is literally nothing that Bruce Campbell can't do: he's faced down legions of faceless demons, he once outmaneuvered a maniac cop, and heck, he was even slated to be Mysterio and stop Spider-Man before Donnie Darko stepped in. The latest rumor was that his star-making character Ash, of the dearly departed Ash vs Evil Dead TV series and prequel films, would have been a DLC character in the recently released Mortal Kombat 11. There is literally nothing that Bruce Campbell can’t do: he’s faced down legions of faceless demons, he once outmaneuvered a maniac cop, and heck, he was even slated to be Sam Raimi’s Mysterio and stop Spider-Man, long before Donnie Darko picked up the fishbowl mantle. The latest rumor was that his star-making character Ash, of the dearly departed Ash vs. Evil Dead TV series and prequel films, would have been a DLC character in the recently released Mortal Kombat 11. A much better choice than the other rumored appearance

However, as a straightforward dream crusher, Campbell tweeted in direct response to these swirling rumors. I’m assuming he mastered Photoshop overnight to tell his fans, in the most fun way possible, that what they so desperately desired would most certainly not be happening:

His succinct tag of “Consider this my finishing move against a certain internet rumor” is classic Groovy Bruce. No hemming and hawing, no apologies. I think he knows better than to tease nerds with tasty treats of video game nature. I mean, the Mortal Kombat inclusion would have been a really cute nod to what they did in Mortal Kombat X, which was to include Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, and Leatherface as playable characters. Having Ash in 11 would have been, essentially, the anti-DLC to those aforementioned monsters. Also, just think about Ash locking his chainsaw against Baraka’s arm sword things! How rad would that have been?

Granted, it is possible we may not have to wait too long for Bruce Campbell in video game form, per this nerd-teasing tweet:

If that above tweet wasn’t tipping his hand towards Ash being in Mortal Kombat 11, what else could it possibly be? I guess we all have to wait until September before we see what Bruce has up his sleeve. It’s probably a chainsaw, right?
