Mortal Kombat 11’s Spawn Will Be Voiced By Original Voice Actor

It might not be Scooby Doo's Shaggy that NetherRealm Studios recently confirmed for Mortal Kombat 11, but the brawler's first batch of DLC certainly isn't going to disappoint. The series, which has established itself as a champion for guest characters from other franchises since Mortal Kombat 9 (will we ever see you again, Kratos?) has been confirmed to continue the trend with its latest instalment, but only now, has the first of those been revealed.

Yes, that’s right, folks – Spawn is finally entering the Mortal Kombat hall of fame in the near future. The iconic anti-hero from Todd McFarlane’s long-running comic book of the same name has consistently topped fan wish lists of guest fighters they’d like to see join the MK roster and it’s great to see NetherRealm finally able to deliver the goods. As far as gameplay goes, however, we’re still waiting on that front, though further details have since made an amazing revelation.

As per publisher Warner Bros.’ official description:

The Spawn comic book tells the story of Al Simmons, an elite government assassin who was betrayed and killed by the CIA. Instead of dying, he sells his soul to Hell for a second chance at life, and becomes Spawn, an unstoppable soldier fighting the underworld. Spawn is voiced by Keith David, the original voice actor from Todd McFarlane’s Spawn, the Emmy award-winning HBO animated series.

As if it wasn’t already a treat to see Spawn finally visit EarthRealm, the character will be brought to life by original voice actor Keith David, so expect, as always, an authentic adaptation. In regards to the remainder of Mortal Kombat 11‘s first batch of DLC characters, Shang Tsung, Sindel and Nightwolf represent the home team, while two further, as yet unannounced, guest characters will join Spawn in the near future.

We expect further details on all of the above at next week’s E3, so be sure to stay tuned.
