Star Trek EP Working Out How To Bring Back Spock And Pike

If you've been keeping up with Gene Roddenberry's visionary sci-fi franchise, then you're probably aware of how CBS and the series' creative staff are always looking to bring beloved characters from yesteryear back into the spotlight. For those who look up to Enterprise Captain Jean-Luc Picard (raises hand), you'll be glad to hear that the highly-anticipated series focused on the aged Starfleet officer is well underway, and just last week, we reported on how Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Chabon will be taking on the role of showrunner.

There’s also been plenty of developments on Star Trek: Discovery as well. Few details have come to light with regards to the next batch of episodes, but we heard reports that CBS is looking to add a non-binary character into the mix.

If you’ve watched the second season already, you’re no doubt aware that the creative team brought back key series figures like Captain Pike and Spock, along with less prominent figures, such as Number One. Their appearances might have been short-lived, but it seems plenty of fans loved having some of their favorites back on screen. It’s not entirely sure if we’ll ever see them again, but as ComicBook.com reports, Star Trek producer Alex Kurtzman hasn’t forgotten about them in the slightest.

“I would be remiss in saying you’re going to see Spock again on Discovery because we’ve obviously jumped so far into the future that it wouldn’t make sense, but the idea of bringing Ethan [Peck] back, and Anson [Mount] and Rebecca [Romijn] and the Enterprise, I mean, we loved it so much, and to find a way to do that is definitely something we’re thinking about.”

Of course, Kurtzman is referring to the end of Star Trek: Discovery‘s second season, where the timeline jumped nearly 1000 years into the future. As such, it would definitely make it difficult to naturally reintroduce these characters, but we’re still holding out hope.

Regardless, with Ethan Peck and Rebecca Romijn returning to reprise their roles in an upcoming episode of Short Treks, fans will get to see these two on the small screen at least one more time. But beyond that? Well, only time will tell.
