How Stranger Things’ Star Dacre Montgomery Could Look As The New Wolverine

With Hugh Jackman having snikt-ed his adamantium claws for the final time, Marvel Studios will soon have to find a new actor to play the Wolverine when they undoubtedly reboot him within the MCU now that they have the rights to the X-Men. The internet has thrown a range of possible candidates into the hat, naming everyone from Keanu Reeves to Daniel Radcliffe as would-be Logans. But now, we've got another to add to the list: Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery.

In the wake of season 3 of the hit show, digital artist Boss Logic has created this new piece of fan art that casts Montgomery as Wolverine. The artist has gone for a Logan-esque monochrome look, giving the star a slightly wolfish hair style with a cigar in one hand and his claws in the other. Fans clearly seem to be on board with the casting, too, as the post has currently got nearly 1,000 likes on Twitter.

This isn’t the first time that Boss Logic has championed Montgomery as a replacement for Jackman, either, as he created a different piece casting him as the character back when when Stranger Things season 2 came out. But would he be a strong fit for Logan?

Well, he’s certainly got superhero experience, having starred as the Red Ranger in Power Rangers. Plus, he’s Australian, just like Jackman. At 24, though, he might be a bit young, as Wolverine is typically depicted as someone closer to middle-age. Montgomery is certainly free to pick up another lead role in a major franchise though after Power Rangers seems to be in limbo and – spoilers – his character Billy Hargrove was killed off in the Stranger Things season 3 finale.

Would Marvel consider him for this all-important part, then? Who knows, but WGTC has heard that the studio’s first port of call is to try and persuade Hugh Jackman to return. If that fails, they also have a shortlist of actors to take over as Wolverine, which includes Taron Egerton and a few others.
