It wasn’t all just about the MCU’s big screen exploits though, with the upcoming Disney Plus shows also heavily represented, including the debut of a new logo and the first footage from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, as well as confirmation that the series would be the first MCU show to debut on Disney Plus in the fall of 2020. The footage didn’t reveal an awful lot about the plot, but it did show that the returning Daniel Bruhl would be donning the signature purple mask of his comic book counterpart Baron Zemo.

The presence of Captain America’s iconic shield in the new logo has obviously led to speculation that Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson would be suiting up in red, white and blue at some point during the six-episode limited series, with the actor himself confirming in an interview with MTV News that he recently had his first costume fitting.

With Steve Rogers officially passing on the mantle of Captain America to Sam Wilson at the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame, it was only a matter of time before we saw this new interpretation of the character, and slowly integrating Mackie’s Cap into the MCU is a smart way of doing it, with Kevin Feige confirming that the Disney Plus shows and the movies will feed into each other:

“It’s the first long-form narrative that Marvel Studios has done – they’ll be six episodes, eight episodes, ten episodes with the actors from the films playing their characters. They’ll be changing, evolving, growing in those event series and then those changes will be reflected in their next film appearances.”

Not much else is known about The Falcon and the Winter Soldier at this point, other than the promise of some classic odd-couple chemistry between Mackie and co-star Sebastian Stan and the likely debut of a new Captain America. The series also has some seriously strong pedigree behind the scenes, with Empire executive producer Malcolm Spellman, John Wick writer Derek Kolstad and The Handmaid’s Tale director Kari Skogland all involved in some capacity.
