Korg Will Have A Much Bigger Role In Thor: Love And Thunder

The God of Thunder was officially revealed to be getting a fourth solo movie - a first for the MCU - last month, in the form of Thor: Love and Thunder. Taika Waititi is returning to write and direct after he successfully relaunched the franchise with Thor: Ragnarok in 2017 and just like in that film, he's set to play a role in front of the cameras as well as he'll be reprising Korg, the loveable Kronan last seen in Avengers: Endgame.

According to HN Entertainment, though, we’ll be seeing more from Korg than ever before in Love and Thunder. The site can’t dish out any details just yet, but it seems his role will extend beyond his supporting presence in Ragnarok and cameo in Endgame. This wasn’t confirmed in their report, but presumably, we’ll see more of Korg’s insectoid pal Miek, too.

As HNE points out, an increased role for Korg is surprising in some ways, considering the three leads of the film will likely take up a lot of the screentime. But we certainly won’t be complaining if Waititi’s character gets more to do this time around, given how enjoyable he is to watch.

Of course, the biggest draw of Love and Thunder is the fact that Natalie Portman will be returning to the MCU as Jane Foster. Only this time, she’ll be the one to wield Mjolnir and become the Goddess of Thunder herself. Who knows how Chris Hemsworth’s Asgardian will feel about reuniting with his ex only to find she’s got his powers. What’s more, Tessa Thompson has teased that Valkyrie, as the recently-appointed King of New Asgard, will be looking for her queen. A position, by the way, which Sif actress Jaimie Alexander has got her eyes on.

Thor: Love and Thunder is expected to begin production next August in Hemsworth’s native Australia. It’s then set to blast into theaters on November 5th, 2021. As always, watch this space for more.
