Kit Harington’s Black Knight May Get His Own MCU Movie

Kit Harington is about to join the MCU in next year's The Eternals. Fans are excited to see the former Game of Thrones star in the Marvel universe, but are also curious how exactly his character will fit into the movie. Unlike the rest of the starry cast, including Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden and Salma Hayek, Harington won't be playing one of the titular immortal beings but is appearing as Dane Whitman AKA Black Knight, a British medieval-themed superhero.

Kevin Feige’s comments about Harington’s role suggested that it’s possible his Eternals gig could lead to bigger things down the line and We Got This Covered has now heard what that might entail. Our source – the same one who told us Black Knight was coming to the MCU back in April – says that the Game of Thrones star may get his own standalone Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. This isn’t for sure just yet, but it’s certainly a possibility being thrown around at the studio and will likely move forward if The Eternals performs well.

Of course, it’s long been rumored that Marvel had plans to introduce Black Knight into the franchise, with it initially believed that he’d pop up in Avengers: Endgame. When we were under that impression, it was reported that this would set up his own solo film. Guy Ritchie was the name floating around to direct at the time and now, it seems like we were close to the truth, just that he’ll make his debut in The Eternals instead.

We’ve also heard how he’ll fit into that movie. As per the comics, Whitman will reportedly be the love interest of Gemma Chan’s Sersi, and will sport his suit of armor and mystical Ebony Blade in his first appearance. Marvel is keeping a lid on his costume at present, though, unlike the rest of the cast whose looks were revealed at D23.

Be sure to watch out for The Eternals when it reaches cinemas on November 6th, 2020, as it could be the beginning of something big for Black Knight.
