First Photos From Supergirl’s Season 5 Premiere Zoom Online

Much like The Flash, this summer hasn't yielded much in the way of Supergirl news following San Diego Comic-Con. It seems like we have something new pertaining to Arrow to discuss nearly every day, but that's to be expected with that particular series heading into its eighth and final season.

If you’ve been clamoring for some fresh content relevant to the Maiden of Might though, then today is most certainly your day. We say that because a handful of photos taken from the season premiere have been released by the network. Titled “Event Horizon,” the episode in question shares its name with both a scientific term and a cult favorite science fiction movie directed by Paul W.S. Anderson of Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil fame, so we can’t be sure of which the producers are referencing.

As you can see by browsing the gallery found below, we’re given updated looks at J’onn J’onzz (David Harewood), Nia Nal AKA Dreamer (Nicole Maines), Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh), Kara Zor-El herself (Melissa Benoist) and Brainiac-5 (Jesse Rath). From the look of it, all hell has broken loose at the opera or some such place, so it should be intriguing to learn what’s actually going on.

It’s obvious by now that nothing too spoiler-ish has been served up, so we’ll take the time to bring you up to speed when it comes to other cool stuff awaiting us in season 5.

As you may have heard, the mysterious organization known as Leviathan will essentially serve as the big bad – but don’t expect for them to be entirely like their comic book counterpart. Interestingly enough, Meaghan Rath will play a female iteration of Brainiac-5 and the villainous Midnight is setting their sights on National City. Not only that, but iZombie alum Rahul Kohli is making his return to the series as well.

Supergirl returns with new episodes on Sunday, October 6th on The CW.
